Officially opening the Logic School addition

On Wednesday, May 7th, Redeemer Classical School hosted a Ribbon Cutting, in partnership with the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Chamber of Commerce, for our new Logic School addition. After over nine months of construction, the event marked the completion of a much-needed expansion! The renovation added three new large classrooms as well as two new sets of bathrooms, giving us enough space to bring all of Logic School (6th through 8th grade) together under one roof. All while maintaining the style of our historic Keezletown campus. This marks the culmination of a years-long capital campaign that has helped expand and improve our facilities to better serve our growing student body.

Over the past 10 years, Redeemer’s enrollment has grown by 172% — from 98 students in 2014–15 to 267 students this school year. In 2025, we expect to come close to 300 students in PreK through 12th grade! This incredible growth is a tangible sign of God’s goodness to Redeemer Classical School. But development often brings growing pains — and space has been one of those challenges for us. That’s why this addition, along with the other improvements funded through the capital campaign, mark such an important milestone.

The Ribbon Cutting ceremony provided a wonderful way to celebrate the occasion. Having so many Redeemer students, teachers and Board members, as well as our business partners and representatives from the Chamber made everything even more special. We kicked things off with remarks from Rebekah Kuller (CFO of Nielsen Builders, Chair-Elect for the Chamber of Commerce, and Redeemer parent), followed by Head of School Ron Hoch, and a prayer led by Aaron Cosner, Redeemer’s Upper School Principal. The students especially enjoyed the giant scissors and helping count down to the ribbon cutting. Afterward, guests toured the new space and had the chance to ask questions. It was a joyful and fitting way to mark the beginning of our school’s next chapter.

The remarks and prayers shared during the ceremony are included below. Many thanks to the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Chamber of Commerce for helping make this event possible!

Mrs. Rebekah Kuller’s Remarks

Good afternoon, everyone!

I’m Rebekah Kuller, chair-elect for the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce and also a Redeemer parent.  It is my great pleasure to welcome you all to this very special occasion — the ribbon cutting for the new addition to Redeemer Classical School, the Logic School Building for 6th-8th grade.

In my role on the Chamber board, I’ve had the opportunity to attend many ribbon cuttings and often remark that they are one of my favorite things about being on the board.  But today just might be my favorite of all those ribbon cuttings!  This marks not only the expansion of a building but the continued growth of a vision — a vision rooted in academic excellence, classical values, and a deep commitment to shaping the next generation of thoughtful, engaged citizens all on this historic campus. Here we are growing Oaks of Righteousness for the Display of His Splendor.

We are thrilled to see this next chapter unfold, and we at the Chamber are proud to support institutions that are making a lasting impact — not only through education but through community involvement and visionary leadership.

I know first hand how expensive construction can be and also how hard non-profits work to raise funds in a capital campaign- so congratulations to Redeemer Classical School on this exciting milestone. We can't wait to see the amazing things that will come from this new space. With that I’ll hand it over to Redeemer’s head of school, Ron Hoch.

Mr. Ron Hoch’s Remarks

Good afternoon, everyone.

Thank you all for coming to celebrate this important milestone in the life of Redeemer Classical School.

I want to begin by offering a few words of thanks:

  • To the Chamber of Commerce for hosting today’s ribbon cutting,

  • To Pendleton Community Bank for providing the bridge financing that made this project possible,

  • To Stoneburner, Legacy Builders, and Andy Brunk for leading the construction effort,

  • To our many generous donors — many of whom are here today, and many of whom are not — who gave so faithfully to bring this vision to life,

  • And, most of all, to God, for His goodness, faithfulness, and abundant blessings on Redeemer throughout our 20-year history.

In one sense, this project began just nine months ago, in September of last year. But in a deeper sense, it has been years in the making. Five years ago, the Board recognized that enrollment was growing steadily — and that all signs pointed to continued growth. That raised a critical question: Where will we put everyone? We realized we would need to both expand and improve our facilities to serve our growing student body — and that a capital campaign would be necessary to fund that vision.

We began a feasibility study in the fall of 2020 and started seeking initial commitments from a few generous donors in the summer of 2021. That effort kicked off a three-year fundraising journey, which culminated this January with over $2 million in commitments.

Today’s celebration marks more than the completion of a building project — it marks a significant milestone in the life of our school. This new addition will house our entire Logic School — our sixth through eighth grades — in one dedicated location on campus. For the first time, students will celebrate the rite of passage of moving from the Grammar School building into the Logic School building, along with the new freedoms and responsibilities that come with that transition.

This is a joyful day for our community, because it represents, in tangible form:

  • The culmination of hard work by so many people,

  • The steady growth of our school,

  • The ongoing improvement of our physical space,

  • The creation of new traditions and enhanced experiences for our students.

  • God’s goodness to Redeemer Classical School. How beautiful that we get to celebrate this momentous occasion during our 20th anniversary year.

It is truly a joy to celebrate this moment with all of you.

At this time, I would like to invite our Upper School Principal to lead us in a prayer of thanksgiving — and then, we will cut the ribbon!

Prayer (Mr. Aaron Cosner)

Our Father and our God,

We come to you today with grateful hearts for the goodness that you have shown to Redeemer Classical School. We thank you that we are able to stand before this physical reminder of your faithfulness and provision. We acknowledge that, although it was built by human hands, it is only by your great hand of Providence that the work done within it will accomplish anything.

Throughout all the days of Redeemer Classical School, let your Truth, Goodness, and Beauty reverberate through these classrooms and halls. Let these classrooms be places of continuous curiosity and wonder. May all that is said, done, taught, and learned be done for Your praise, glory, and honor.

We commit our work to you, Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.
