After taking a year sabbatical from the Logic School Spelling Bee due to COVID-19, Redeemer joyfully resumed the annual tradition on October 20, 2021. In preparation for the Bee, the sixth, seventh, and eighth graders competed in individual classroom spelling bees on September 29th. Five contenders from each class advanced to the Logic School Bee:
6th Grade
P. Funkhouser
A. Hormel
S. Peters
A. Wenger
E. Woldesamuel
7th Grade
H. Arimoto
J. Eller
S. Houff
U. Fisher
Q. Yared
8th Grade
L. Carpenter
R. Crider
E.Eads
J. Peters
A. Richardson
On a crisp morning in the pavilion, students gathered for the competition while peers and family members watched and applauded from the audience. Students spelled words like unsportsmanlike, palpable, bantlings, and incorrigibles. The day ended with Miss Arimoto placing as the runner-up and Mr. Yared winning the Spelling Champion award after spelling the word lavished in the fourteenth championship round. Mr. Yared will represent Redeemer at the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee in the Spring of 2022, where he will compete for a chance to progress to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Kudos to the entire Logic School for their work and participation in the Bee, and congratulations to our champion!
