Folks from Redeemer Classical School have been showing up in the local media with regularity over the last several years, but in the last few weeks there have been a series of articles and photos appearing around town. Interestingly, none of these articles were actually about RCS, we have just become part of the community conversation.

The first appeared in the Fall 2008 issue of Shenandoah Living Magazine. The story, by Karen Doss Bowman, is about the Wildlife Center of Virginia. You might recall an invitation to see a presentation by WCV last year hosted by Redeemer. Prominently featured in the article and photos are students and parents at RCS.

RCS 6th grader, Timothy Miller, seems to have his own press agent, as in addition to appearing in the Shenandoah Living piece, his linocut stamp of two rams butting heads made for a fifth grade art project is shown on page 2 of the Fall 2008 issue of Madison Magazine-the full color magazine for JMU alumni which was mailed this week. (The Fall 2008 issue is not yet posted online.)

Madison Magazine also features a story about RCS founding board chair, Dr. Brian Augustine, who has received a Fulbright Scholarship to teach in South Africa at the University of KwaZulu-Natal starting in January. The story first appeared in the Madison Scholar during the summer. He will be traveling with his wife, Kristin, and their three daughters Rachel, Rebekah and Ruth. They will be in Pietermartizburg, South Africa until July 2009.

While in South Africa, they will be working with the Bonginkosi Pre-School in the nearby Edendale township. Students at Redeemer Classical School have adopted the Bonginkosi school and the Augustine’s will be helping to set up a partnership with the school. More details about this exciting opportunity will be forthcoming.
